Tuesday poem: 'Calling you home': a video poem

Inspired by Helen Heath, whose Tuesday poem last week was a video of 'Guys like Gauguin' by Selina Tusitala Marsh, I've decided to do a video poem this week too. This is 'Calling you home', by me. I had grand plans of making lots of video poems, but, as yet, my plan has not come to fruition. I hope this will change in the future, but you know, so much to do, so little time...

I also chose this because it's about S, who stars, briefly, in the video. His surgery went really well and he's doing fine, but stuff like this makes you appreciate things, and other soppy stuff.

The real star of this video though is the manky flat I lived in when I wrote it, and where a friend still lives – so I got to go back and film most of this there.

Anyway, here's 'Calling you home':

If for some reason you can't view it here, you can see it here on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lq21OmFTF4.

You can find more Tuesday Poems here at the official blog: http://tuesdaypoem.blogspot.com/.

I love the images in your video poem, Helen. Especially the cups and teaspoons!

Hey Helen,

I love this. But it seems to have more significance given S' surgery. I am glad you're both well!

Yay! I was hoping you'd post this, love it and good to hear about S.
I hope you do get a chance to do more sometime :-)

Hi Helen,

I love the whole video concept and the music and images both really suited the poem: simple and straightforward, but the strength came through.

This is wonderful! Loved it. It's exciting that we can do this with image and words now ... part of me quails at the thought of another technical challenge, but I would love to do some of this kind of thing with my poetry ... I am glad S is okay (I feel 'a little out of it lately', didn't realise he was having surgery). Again, this is a lovely treatment of a lovely poem. Take care.

Is it because Apple and Adobe Flash are at odds? This is the second video that's simply been blank for me today. Lest this happen, and it doesn't load for some reason, it's always good to list a direct link to the video under the embedded one. I'll check back later.... looks so interesting I'd love to see it too!
